John R. Lacy, 84, the husband of the late Ellenor (Donlon) Lacy died on Wednesday(April 6, 2016) at Hartford Hospital, after a brief illness. John was born in Algona, Iowa, the son of H.J. and Ruth (Reed) Lacy and had lived in Glastonbury since 1972. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. His career was as a reporter, having worked for many years with the Hartford Courant. He had previously worked at the New London Day, the Manchester Evening Herald and was the Connecticut correspondent for Time Magazine. An avid sports fan, he and his friend Cathie Adams were season ticket holders for the Hartford Hawks women's basketball team and he enjoyed playing tennis, golf and billiards and rooting for the Red Sox. John is survived by his children Ronelle Fiori and her husband Michael of Morrisville, NC, Anne Hassett and her husband Peter of Hebron, Carrie Lacy of Glastonbury. John Lacy, Jr. and Elizabeth Babcock of Glastonbury and Robert Lacey and his wife Robin of Durham, NC; his granddaughters Elaine Fiori, Emma and Nora Lacy and Laura Lacy and his great granddaughters Kaliyah, Kareena and Keyanna. Besides his wife and parents John was predeceased by his daughter Ruth, his grandson Emanuel and his brother R. James Lacy. Funeral service will be held on Monday (April 11th) at 10:00 at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester followed by burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 - 5:00.
