Community Involvement

Barbara and John Tierney believed being active members of the community was the cornerstone of a strong family and the foundation of a strong business.  Since 1956, Tierney family members have served on countless committees, boards and foundations.  As a founding member of The Saint James School Foundation and The Savings Bank of Manchester (now SBM Charitable Foundation), John laid the groundwork for a family tradition of philanthropy and community service.  Along with Barbara, a lifelong member of the Church of the Assumption Ladies Guild and a member of the Emblem Club of Manchester, they instilled the importance of community in their family.

Tom Sr. has sat on the board of the Saint James School Foundation and currently is an active member of the Manchester Parks and Recreation Commission.  He and Tom Jr. have both been members of the Manchester Elks and active participants of the Manchester St. Patrick’s Day Committee.  Throughout the year you can find the family, 3 generations now, out and about, volunteering and raising awareness for numreous organizations in Manchester and in the surrounding communities.
