William and Debra, I am so sorry to hear about Woody’s passing. She was a nurse to several of our group homes in the Manchester/Vernon area for several years back in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s when she worked for Oak Hill. If I remember correctly she had worked at the Bidwell Nursing home in Manchester and she became an important part of our team, transitioning some of their long-term residents to our group homes (Lori, Bruce and Nancy who moved to our Grissom Rd. Home). Woody was truly beloved by the folks who lived in the homes and by staff as well. She was so kind and treated everyone as if they were her own family. Woody often brought baked goods and occasionally soups to the group home for lunch. I have a few of her recipes, written in her own hand, which I use and will treasure. Her Italian Vegetable Soup is a favorite—so often used that I had to rewrite it. When she first came to work for us, some of the homes were brand new with new carpets, which made it hard for her to breathe but she was such a trooper! I had the opportunity to visit her at her house on Lake St several times and meet her beloved Bill. Just wonderful people. I’ve moved to SC but always think of it as “Woody’s house” when I come back to CT and pass by on my way to Shady Glen. Rest easy in the arms of Jesus, Woody. You truly loved and were loved by so many. Sending prayers for peace and comfort to you, William and Debra and to your families and all who loved Woody. What a privilege it was to know Woody. I wish I could be at her service, but will keep you all in my prayers.
