Obituary of Nellie M. Mora

Nellie Mora, 100, passed away at home on Sunday August 1st surrounded by family and friends. Nellie was born in Manchester on January 11, 1921 and was a life-long Manchester resident. Her 100th birthday was declared “Nellie Mora day” by mayor Moran. She was most known for her love of family, who would gather at her house each Sunday for food and laughs. She enjoyed birds and was an avid gardener and past member of the Manchester Garden Club. She was also a devout parishioner of Saint James parish. Her spaghetti and homemade Italian dressing will never be equaled or forgotten. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 59 years John Mora, Sr; her cherished daughter Bernice Fray; two sisters – Josephine Nevue and Emily Condio; son-in-law Donald Jacobsen, and her great grandson Andrew Jacobsen. She is survived by her daughter Beverly Jacobsen (Vernon, CT) and sons John Mora, Jr, and his wife Judy (Chatham, MA); Richard Mora and his fiancé Cynthia Richardson (Storrs, CT); Wayne Mora and his wife Kate (Conway, NH), and Bruce Mora (Manchester, CT) as well as a sister Irene Guinipero (Manchester, CT). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Nellie’s family would especially like to thank Benedicta and Diana for their outstanding and compassionate care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 6th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Parish, 896 Main Street, Manchester, CT with burial to follow at St. James Cemetery.
