Mr. C, Bill, Lynda, Karen, Jim & Kids;
Not enough words could ever do justice to “Mrs. Chambers”, for me. From Chalker Beach to Okemo Mountain to so many other memorable times. So many conversations sitting in the sand at Chalker, or watching her talk to my sons as they were family,will leave an indelible mark on me forever.
I was glad to see Tim Sullivan (see his previous post) admit he was a bad influence on Bill - truthfully Tim was a bad influence on all of us; but that is a story for another time. Mrs. Chambers was always happy to see me with Bill to ensure his well-being, At least that is how I remember it; after 40+ years.
Mrs. Chambers was always sincerely interested how everyone was doing - especially the kids. When I informed my sons, Kyle and Sean, that Mrs. Chambers had passed, they both spoke how she always spoke to them with interest; as if they were part of her family. Unique in this day and age......
So, from Chalker Beach to Okemo Mountain to showing up unexpectantly, at her own home, when Bill was “hosting” a New Year’s Eve Party in the early 1980’s, Mrs. Chambers will always be a fond memory. With a big smile.
My deepest sympathy and prayers to the entire Chambers family.

My sincere condolences to Mr. Chambers, Bill, Karen, and Linda on the loss of your wife and mother.
I received a call from my mother minutes ago with the very sad news of Marianne Chambers passing. I was just thinking about your family a couple days ago when I drove by your cottage. I do a quick homeland security check of Chalker on my own sometimes. I will always remember the happy feeling of seeing Mr. and Mrs. Chambers opening the Chalker Beach cottage and frequently walking by my house on their way to the beach. I always felt summer had finally arrived when they had moved down to Saybrook. Stopping to talk about our families, always asking about Aunt Patsy, Aunt Joanie, my parents, Bryan and Ann Marie. Visits were always cheerful, chatty, and contained many laughs. Mrs. Chambers, without fail, would offer updates on her family and tell glowing stories of her grandchildren, their accomplishments and travels. Always with a smile.
Chalker Beach will not be the same without Mrs. Chambers. I will forever drive by your cottage with a smile, happy teenage memories and tell my daughter, "That's the Chambers cottage. A few of my oldest and nicest friends live there. They are a great family."
My heart is heavy, yet filled with warm summer thoughts of your wife and mother. I will miss Mrs. Chambers along with you and wish you peace and comfort during this very difficult time. Hugs to you all.
Love,
Ardine Guzzo Alsback and Family

Our thoughts and prayers to Billy and the family.
Mrs. Chambers was a strong figure in my summer life growing up at Chalker Beach. Of all the parents she was definitely the most diligent about keeping track of Billy's (and our) comings and goings. I have etched in my memory a vision of her standing in my back yard at 9:55 pm next to the keg (we were underage) asking where Billy was because he was going to miss curfew. I then had to look her in the eye and say I hadn't seen him. :) She rightfully was skeptical of my attestations after that.
I was therefore surprised and pleased as an adult to have her welcome my family to Bingo, Triathlons and Movie nights in Chalker Beach. As time went by I got to see the warm and welcoming side of Mrs. Chambers. I was glad to know that she didn't hold my youthful transgressions against me and took a genuine interest in my family and my career. She felt like a new person, but I suspect it was me that changed. It got to the point where I looked forward to her stopping by on the golf cart and asking about the latest developments.
I am as thankful for those adult year interactions as I was scared of those teenage ones. She is missed.
Tim Sullivan
