Obituary of Raymond Rainaud

Raymond W. Rainaud, 77, of South Windsor, loving husband of Marilyn E. (Cratty) Rainaud, passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on January 18, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 2, 1943 in Ridgefield, CT, son of Eugene and Margaret (Mahoney) Rainaud and raised in South Hadley MA and was a graduate of South Hadley High School. Raymond was a hard-working and loyal man who spent his career as a Foreman at Willington Name Plates in Stafford Springs. Ray was an enthusiastic sports fanatic who also coached many children, including his own, in Manchester Little League. He enjoyed basketball, football, baseball, golf and boxing and was a huge supporter and fan of UCONN men’s and women’s basketball especially, New England Patriots and the Celtics. He mostly found joy in his time spent with Mickey, his children and grandchildren and instilled many valuable lessons and wisdom in them all. Ray was a kind, gentle, sweet man with a sense of humor that warmed the hearts of all who met him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Ray is survived by the love of his life, Mickey (Marilyn) of South Windsor, son Matthew Rabbett (Michele, [Michael, Ashley]) of Andover, daughter Tammy Rabbett (Michael) of Rumney, NH, son Mark (Amy) Rainaud of Ashford, daughter Lizbeth (Bruce) of WA and daughter Caroline (Renee) of CA. Ray will be greatly missed by his grandchildren whom he adored, Matthew, Nick and Chris Rabbett and Tina Duval (Sandy), Ryan Ray Rabbett and Nick and Jess Rainaud all of CT. Ray is survived by his grandchildren on the west coast Hillary, Madison, Austin and a great grandson Oliver. Surviving siblings Eugene, Sheila and Stephen and many nieces and nephews and beloved in-laws. We would like to thank the staff at Hartford Hospital Neuro ICU 9th floor for the compassionate and impeccable care given to Ray and our family. Due to Covid-19 funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
