Ray’s family, I am so sorry for your loss. I was heartbroken when I heard this news. Ray and I worked together for 10 years, often sharing break time together discussing who was going to retire first. Talking about the quiz inside the Snapple covers, laughing and researching them became something we looked forward to. Anytime I had a question about a part or process I always knew I could get the right answer, with a smile from Ray. Ray was always happy to help and share his vast knowledge. I’m sure Mike, Marcel, and Ray are sharing a beer, no a “Good Beer” right now. Rest in my peace my friend. Condolences to the entire family he left behind. Theresa

My Heart goes out to the Rainaud Family. I worked with Ray for the last 37yrs at Willington Name Plates. I was a 20yr old and I worked in Rays department as a press operator. Ray was my foreman and my teacher. Ray taught me everything I know and taught me well. Ray was a sweetheart he was always happy go lucky he always had a smile on his face and would make you laugh with his jokes. Ray and I would always talk collage basketball UCONN Huskies of course. Ray would be like road runner going through the shop it was hard to keep up with him at times. When Ray retired last year my heat was broken I missed the good mornings and have a good night from him every day. I missed him there period just was not the same anymore. But I did keep in touch with him with a phone call at least once a month just to say hi how are you doing and that we missed you and that made him happy and me. Still hard to believe that he is gone my heart is broken once again and will be for a long time. But the Memories will last a life time. Ray I will miss you dearly RIP Ray Rainaud

More about Ray Rainaud.
This is our dad, Ray Rainaud. He was born at home in Ridgefield, Connecticut March 2, 1943, delivered by a nurse midwife, Mrs. Hunt, who was a friend of his mothers. He was the third child born to Eugene and Margaret (Mahoney) Rainaud. His sister Sheila (Marcel) and brother Gene (Angela) were 4 and 2 years older, respectively. Ten years later, along came baby brother Steve (Debbie) and Ray lost his "youngest kid" status. The siblings have always been close friends.
Ray grew up at 15 Spring Street in South Hadley Massachusetts where his mom stayed home and raised her children and his father worked in lumber yards, mills and a paper factory. He was the team manager for the South Hadley High School basketball team. He loved sports including UCONN, Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics.
He and our mom married in February 1964 at the young ages of 21 & 20. I was born in the autumn. Mark and Caroline each arrived 18 months after the last baby! I don't know how they did it. Well, they didn't.
After our parents split up, we moved to southern California in July 1973. I can distinctly remember my dad coming to our apartment in Ashford Connecticut and telling me that we were moving west. He came to visit a couple of times and then he remarried.
We lived far apart for so so many years. As kids we would see him in the summer, sometimes at Christmas (finances dependent), although when we visited we usually stayed with our extended family (Thank you Auntie Sheila & Uncle Geff). My brother moved east as a young adult and he and our dad worked together at Willington Nameplate for more than 30 years. Ray was a faithful employee for 54 years! Ray was someone with an infectious laugh and lots of jokes and he was loved by all who crossed paths with him. I'm told he and Mark were constantly cracking up together at work. I know they both cherished their time together. Ray always had a smile on his face and had an amazing memory.
The years passed, we grew up and visits east happened whenever it was possible. Our mom died in 2018 and he called me that day. Although he and our mom were divorced for more than 40 years, he came to her Celebration of Life in 2019 and spent the day with us and all the extended family. It was a wonderful, dare I say fun, gathering of family from both sides.
Early last week Ray had an ischemic stroke and started the long road to recovery. Having cared for my mom post-stroke, I knew it would be quite a long road with no gaurantees. Unfortunately, he had a massive hemorrhagic stroke on Sunday evening. He died just after midnight on Monday, January 18 after being removed from life support. A lot of what happened during those days happened without our involvement. That's okay. What is important is that he is at peace, FINALLY.
In addition to his step kids who he raised as his own, he leaves behind us, our spouses and our kids; Hillary, Lauren, Austin, Madison, Nicholas and Jessie; as well as Oliver, his great grandson. Mark, Caroline and I have a wonderful step-father Jim Reisinger, who raised us well, taught us how to be productive humans and whom we all adore. However, losing our remaining biological parent hurts. Personally, I think we are all awesome people, but due to circumstances, he didn't get to know our children as well as we would have liked. His grandkids have lost their grandfather. His siblings have lost their brother, and his many nieces and nephews including Stephen, Lynn, Catherine, Lisa, Bethany, Lindsay, Adam and Scott, have lost their beloved Uncle Ray. He was predeceased by his nephew Michael, brother-in-law Marcel and sister-in-law Angie, as well as his parents. He leaves behind scores of family and friends who loved him dearly.
Fortunately, there are many loved ones waiting in Heaven to share a beer and some corny jokes. I'm sure he was welcomed with open arms and a cold beer, and a UCONN game on television.
We will miss you forever, Dad. We will miss what we had, and we will forever miss what we never had.
Rest In Peace Raymond William Rainaud. If anyone deserves peace, it is you.

Uncle Ray. You will be missed. Taken from us way too early. I will always remember you as a person who never showed he was having a bad day. You were always happy, upbeat, and full of energy. Ray’s memory of long ago events, old friends, and corny jokes was remarkable. Uncle Ray was truly a good person and friendly to everyone he met. While we grieve our loss of Ray, I hope he is enjoying eternal happy hours with Ty, Pi, Dad and Mike.
