Leo Germain

Obituary of Leo David Germain

Leo David Germain, 58, of Manchester, CT, was called home to be with his Lord on Friday, November 30, 2018. He passed of a cardiac arrest in Waterbury, CT where he was staying with his friend and caretaker, Maria Morris.

Born on October 20, 1960 to Leo Charles and Phyllis Brodsky Germain, he grew up and lived in Manchester surrounded by loving family and, as he would say, a bazillion friends. Predeceased by his parents, Leo leaves his sisters Christine Clarke of Bremerton, WA, Michelle Fritz (husband Bob) of  Sevierville, TN, a brother, Gregory Germain (wife Karen) of Colchester, CT, ex-wife and friend, Violet Ahearn of Mesa, AZ, lifelong friends Steve Repass and Mark Bain and his sweet cat, Angel.

Graduating from Manchester Community College, Leo held various jobs, but was most proud of his role as Easter Seal Ambassador, making many fond memories at Camp Hemlocks in Hebron. You could usually find him there by following the music.

Avid science fiction reader, lover of music, writer, foodie, Giant’s fan and intrepid adventurer, he embraced the world and every person he met with joy, acceptance and hope. He taught us all to be understanding and inclusive of others. He had an amazing ability to live in the present and enjoy every moment despite his personal struggles. He freely and generously shared his greatest gifts . . . a true heart and loyal friendship. The next time you hear thunder, smile and imagine Leo is rocking out to his beloved Jethro Tull.

Leo brought love, laughter and the occasional bad pun everywhere he went. We can celebrate his life by honoring his wish for peace, kindness and laughter and offer a prayer of gratitude that he is free from all pain. Thank you to the many friends who helped ease his way through the years and to all medical personnel who provided excellent care.
