I just found out this morning losing my uncle Bill. I hold in my heart many memories of him and all the family. All my family looked up to him re. his kindness, devotion to family and love. He had a wonderful outgoing personality making many friends and doing a lot for others. I wish I was nearby to be there for my aunt, Woody, and cousins, Debby, and Billy Jr.. My day will be spent with him in my thoughts with all those loving memories.

Dear Aunt Woody, Billy and Debbie: So sad to hear of Uncle Bill's passing, and very glad I was able to talk with him over the phone this past June. He was such a sweet Uncle and caring person. I will always remember how concerned he was when we visited many years ago by train from Alabama, and how I told him it was so "cold" on the train. Prior to coming back to Alabama, we went to a store and he bought me a blanket for the trip home. I had this blanket for "many years", which my son confiscated in his early years until it finally was in threads. I shared this story years ago with Uncle Bill by letter, along with a picture of the old blanket. Will remember our fond visits. Uncle Bill is now with my Mom (his sister) and his other loved ones. With deepest sympathy to all. Much love, (your ALABAMA niece - Dianna Bryant Miller).

Dear Woody and Family:
My heartfelt condolences on Bill's passing. He was a vital part of our family of friends at St. Mary's Episcopal Church for these many years..
He served his country well and his church even better.
I'll miss very much his presence in the first few rows of the 10:00 A. M. Sunday service!
Love, Harry

I had the pleasure of Bill's friendship and the opportunity to admire his boundless, talented energy in service to St. Mary's Episcopal Church. It's easy to believe that Bill was an outstanding athlete in his youth. It was an honor to be in Bill's presence. My sincere condolences to Woody and family.

I grew up next door to Bill and Woody and my parents still are his neighbors. I have many fond memories of visits down the hill, sometimes long, sometimes short. I remember Bill taught me how to cross-country ski in his backyard when I was in Jr. High School in the early '80s. Cross-country skiing is something I still enjoy doing during our long Vermont winters where I now live with my wife. I also remember Bill telling me that I was going to love Vermont when I told him about my interview 20 years ago. He was so right. Most of all, what I remember was Bill's kindness and genuine interest in what was happening in my life. My wife and I look forward to continued visits to Woody down the hill when home visiting my parents. Love and condolences to the whole family.
