Obituary of Thomas Lodge

Thomas Lodge, 71, beloved husband of Kathleen Giorgio Lodge passed away suddenly at his home in Coventry, CT on Sunday April 29, 2018. Born in Fitchburg, MA, he was the son of Clarence R. and Catherine (McGowan) Lodge. Tom graduated from East Catholic High School Class of 1965 in Manchester, earned his Bachelor’s Degree from University of Hartford and his Master’s Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He had a long-time career as director of Human Resources at both Aramark and the Hospital for Special Care and he later taught at RPI. He was also the founder of the consulting firm BP Partners. Tom was actively involved in the Manchester Sports Hall of Fame and was past president for 5 years.  Tom’s passion for Manchester sports and youth lead him to establish the Manchester Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship Fund.   He was a long-time member of the Manchester Country Club and he volunteered at both Covenant Soup Kitchen of Willimantic and the Manchester Area Conference of Churches. His love for sports, and in particular, his love for basketball, took him to the first East Catholic High School state championship as an ECHS basketball player; then into 20 years as a passionate basketball referee for the IAABO Central CT Board #6.   Most importantly, Tom was the “Master Alarm Clock of the Tickle Claw” and doing “the Tom Lodge”.

His heart and world revolved around the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, and best friend since high school, Kathie.  Through that love, he is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Kristen and Jeff Martinson of Chester, Meghan and Brian Konopka of Marlborough, his grandchildren Chelsea (Peanut) Martinson, Kyle (Bubba) and Marley (Girlfriend) Konopka. He is also survived by his brothers and sister and their spouses Daniel and Marsha Lodge of Hebron, William and Anne Lodge of Manchester, James Lodge of Manchester, Anne and Neil Hattan of Ellington and many nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends may call at the John F Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester, CT Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 4–8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday May 4, 2018 at 11:00AM at Church of the Assumption, 21 Adams St. South Manchester, CT.
