Obituary of Lawrence Joseph Spinnato

Lawrence Joseph Spinnato, 84, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on Saturday (February 5, 2005) after a long illness. Larry was born in New London on March 26, 1920 to Mary (Di Marco) and Salvatore Spinnato. He worked for a time at the Electric Boat Co. in Groton before enlisting in the Army and served honorably during WWII. After leaving the armed forces, he worked as a machine operator for HP Hood and Sons and retired after 37 years of service. He leaves his loving and dedicated wife of 56 years Concetta (Duva) Spinnato, his daughters, Brenda Longo and her partner Christopher Hammick of Ashford, Linda Leahy and her husband Richard of Lafayette, CA; and his grandsons Colin, Conor and Garrett Leahy. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Mary Chaney and Susan Sobiebski, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Sun Wan and his staff for their compassion and care throughout Larry�s illness. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday (February 9, 2005) at 11:45 am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center Street, Mancheter, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 pm at the Church of the Assumption, Adams St. South, Manchester. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11 am at St. Mary�s Cemetery, Jefferson Ave., New London, CT. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4-7 pm. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association 2550 US Highway 1 North Brunswick, NJ 08902-4301.
