Obituary of Ralph Home
Ralph B. Home, 89, of Manchester passed away peacefully on Monday (January 25, 2010) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born October 27, 1920 in Providence, RI., the son of the late John B. and Grace M. (Keyes) Home of Uncasville, CT. Ralph joined the United States Marine Corp at the age of twenty-two and served in World War II, the Korean War and the Viet Nam War. He predeceases his wife of sixty-five years, Rita M. (LaMorey) Home. After traveling extensively and living in Guam, California, Hawaii, Maine and No. Carolina as well as several locations in Connecticut, Ralph and Rita settled in Manchester where they have lived since 1970. Upon his retirement from the Marine Corp in 1972 as a decorated Sergeant Major, Ralph began working for the Connecticut Mutual Insurance Co. in Hartford, retiring in 1981. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge of Uncasville. Besides his wife Rita, Ralph is survived by his daughter Claudia Albert of Brooklyn, NY; his son and daughter-in-law Dan and Pam Home of Ellington and his grandsons Matthew Kane of Brooklyn, NY and Brendan Home of Ellington. Friends and family may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester on Friday (1/29) from 4:00 �" 6:30. A rendering of military honors will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 6:30. Per Ralph's request he will be buried at sea.
