Dear Moriarty Family: My deepest sympathy for the family and friends of Mortimer. We will never get used to losing our loved ones in death because as Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, we were created with everlasting life in view. But may you find comfort in knowing that Almighty God has promised that soon he will swallow up death forever along with the pain that it brings. (Isaiah 25:8) God has also promised that he will return "Mort" to you as it says at John 5:28,29. You can also learn more about what happens when a loved one dies at JW.org.
Sincerely,
Susan

My sincere condolences for the loss of Mortimer. Be assured that the almighty God truly cares for the family!
May you find comfort in the promise that "... there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous" (Acts 24:15), and very soon "... no resident will say, 'I am sick'" (Isa. 33:24) because "... death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”(Rev. 21:4)

Chris, Paul, Kevin, Erin, Mary Beth, Mike, Patricia & ‘The Moriarty Clan’: We have all lost a very special man but hopefully are comforted in knowing he is resting in peace. He struggled valiantly against a progressive disorder and held his head high—as he would. Where to Begin: Mort was one of my dearest & closest friends. We shared so many wonderful steps along life’s path from the bumbling and somewhat silly but life shaping times of adolescence, through the early decades that solidify careers and relationships to the challenges of the ‘Senior Years’. Mort was a constant in my life for over 60 years. Where would I have been without the ‘Moriarty Influence’? I will never know, of course, as much of my life and career are behind me, but I know I have been truly blessed. My good fortune unfolded directly and indirectly related to my friend Mort. A man of character, a true friend whose ‘occasional lack of flexibility’ taught me the importance of strongly held beliefs and values and to live by them. Admittedly, I was always embarrassed about my ‘Vermont Car’, which seemed to joyfully collect the dust and mud of our gravel roads especially for Mort. Mort’s disappointment in me became so palpable that I would stop at the car wash on Broad street as I arrived in Manchester (it eased the castigation!). I can only say that if ‘God’s Golden Chariot’, within which Mort and Pat will cruise the Heavens, is not kept sparkling clean we all know who will straighten things out up there, or… there’ll be a Price to Pay’--!!! We loved Mort and send our love to You All –Bob & Donna
