Obituary of Virginia Peterson

Virginia Lowell Peterson passed peacefully on August 23, 2016, a week before her 93rd birthday. Born in Portland, Maine, she attended the University of Alabama where she met Everett Miller Peterson whom she married in 1944. While he served in the US Navy during World War II, she completed a secretarial business program in Maine. In 1945, she relocated to Connecticut with him and they resided in Glastonbury the rest of their lives. Her main interests included her family and friends, current events, travel, knitting, her beloved pets, and summers at Higgins Beach, Scarborough, Maine. She worked as a secretary for numerous companies including Mercer and Dunbar and Pratt and Whitney. She is predeceased by her husband who passed in 1994. She leaves her son Gary, his wife Val, her two daughters Linda and Laurie Jean, granddaughter Kristen, grandson Eric, and four great-grandchildren, Taye, Landon, Carter, and Nolan as well as brother Richard Lowell and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who reside in Maine. A funeral service will take place at the Higgins Beach Club House. The John F. Tierney Funeral Home has care of the arrangements. For online condolences please visit www.tierneyfuneralhome.com.
