Obituary of Antonia D. Grunder

Antonia D. Grunder, 60, of Bolton peacefully entered eternal life on June 16, 2012, at her home, with her beloved husband of 32 years, Gary Grunder, at her side, after a six-year battle with multiple myeloma. Antonia "Toni" was born on July 1, 1951, in Hartford and was raised in East Hartford, the daughter of Lenore (Lorello) Druzolowski and the late Charles Druzolowski. She graduated from East Hartford High School and Morris School of Business. Antonia was employed at the Travelers Insurance Co., later UnitedHealth Care in Hartford for over 37 years in the employee benefits/health care area. For a majority of her life she was a communicant of St. Isaac Jogues Parish in East Hartford. Toni will be forever thought of as a kind, gentle, and generous person who loved her family and friends above herself. She was a selfless individual who would be the first person to support others as they went through the trials and tribulations of life, even as she was suffering with her illness. She was a hard-working and dedicated individual with every life task she took on. Antonia loved her travels and adventures to Cape Cod and Rhode Island, her family gatherings and celebrations of life, all animals large and small, and all sports. Besides her husband and mother, she leaves her beloved brother and his wife, Joseph and Anne Druzolowski of South Windsor; her nephew, Nicholas Druzolowski of South Windsor; and her niece, Meghan L. Druzolowski of New York City. She leaves her sister-in-law, Patricia Miller of South Windsor; her sister-in-law, Ellen and her husband, Dennis Sullivan, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a niece Melissa of Ohio; a niece Jessica and nephew Dennis of Florida. She also leaves her loving uncle and aunt, Tony and Joan Lorello of Vernon. The family would like to offer a special note of thanks and remembrance to Dr. Joel Silver of Medical Oncology and his staff of nurses at Medical Oncology and Blood Disorders, the caring nursing staff at Manchester Memorial Hospital AMU unit, and Dr. Richard Carlton at Manchester Ophthalmology. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, on Thursday, June 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. James Church, Main Street, Manchester. Antonia will be laid to rest in St. James Cemetery, Manchester, immediately following the funeral Mass.
