Klara S. (Enders) Blass, 91, died peacefully Friday July 15 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born April 22, 1925 in Dieburg, Germany, daughter of the late Georg & Klara Enders. A German war bride, she came to the U.S. in 1947 and lived in East Hartford and Manchester most of her life, residing in Coventry for several years prior to moving to Hebrew Health Care in October. Klara was the consummate mother & housewife and loved cooking, baking, gardening, the New York Yankees, UCONN basketball, dogs, the beach, Jeopardy, pinochle & Yahtzee. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor and was a real trip! She could also talk sports, politics, & current affairs with anyone. She is survived by her four children & their spouses, Linda & Merrill Myers, Pamela Blass, Robert Blass and Monica & Todd Lessard, 5 grandchildren and their spouses Kristin & Matthew Hayes, Jeffrey & Tracey Grote, Jennifer Blass, Brian Blass and Courtney Lessard and 5 great-grandchildren Taylor, Benjamin and Lindsay Hayes and Emily and Samantha Grote. She also leaves her special former daughter-in-law Diane Blass and several nieces and a nephew in Germany. The family owes much gratitude to the loving care she received by all at Hebrew Health Care with special thanks to Kathy, Marlene, Abida, Joy, Marcia, Valerie, Kate and Diane. Calling hours will be at John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester on Monday July 18 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral will be private.
