Obituary of Michael Shannon
Michael James Shannon, 39, died peacefully July 13, 2016 surrounded by his family and 6 of his girl friends. Michael was born August 21, 1976 in Manchester where he was a lifelong resident. Mike always wore his heart on his sleeve and just wanted to make everyone laugh, and his laugh was contagious. Loyal, humble, caring, and loving are just a few of the nice words his many friends used to describe him. Wherever Michael went he knew somebody, always exchanging a friendly handshake or hug. Most of his life, Mike worked in wood flooring, but he was a true artist in many other areas. Mike followed many sports and loved the NY Giants and Boston Red Sox. He could beat almost everyone in a game of chess or cribbage. Michael enjoyed travelling, especially to Phish festivals and any other music shows. He was happiest spending his time with animals, especially exploring the woods with his dog, Violet. Mike is survived by his mother, Maureen Morgan Kelley, father, Richard Shannon, and step-father, Brian Kelley. His brothers, Sean and Cameron Kelley, and his sister, Channing Courtney. His Aunt Vicki Morgan, Aunt Kathleen and Uncle Jimmy Gorman, Uncles John, Steve, and Jerry Shannon. He also leaves his cousins, Kristine, Colleen, and Molly Morgan, Jeffrey Tomkins, Amber and John Hodgen, and Erin and Colin Gorman. Lastly, his love Bethany Zapadka, her daughter Lily, and all the AMAZING friends that Mike considered family. Michael was predeceased by his grandmothers and grandfathers, Mary and Eugene Morgan, and Dorothy and Gerald Shannon, Aunt Deedee Hodgen and Uncle Kevin Morgan. A funeral service will be held Sunday, July 17th at 4:30 p.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St., Manchester.
