Thomas Paul Zemke After playing cards with friends at Manchester Country Club, having lunch with Jane, his beloved wife of 67 years, Thomas Paul Zemke passed away peacefully while napping in his favorite chair on June 13, 2016. He was 93 years old. Tom was born on December 14, 1922 in Bridgeport, CT to Anna and Emil Zemke. After serving in the US Army during WWII he married the beautiful love of his life, Jane McNamara Zemke and settled in Manchester to raise three children; Mike Zemke, Barbara Lofstrom and Jan Burrell. Tom, an avid golfer won the club championship at Manchester Country Club in 1966. He always made time for family vacations, the most memorable at Cape Cod and Lake Hayward. Upon retiring from the State of CT he enjoyed traveling with Jane to almost every state in the US, Ireland, England and many Caribbean Islands. Tom was a man of integrity with high moral standards, a hard worker and very independent. He was a wonderful role model and will continue to be for his grandchildren; Christy Driscoll and her husband Tyler, Matt Burrell, Kevin Burrell and his wife Jenny and Liz Lofstrom; his five great grandchildren; Julie, Amelie, Lucy, Ava and Sammy; his nephew Tim McNamara and his wife Karen and his many other nieces and nephews. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center Street Manchester on Thursday, June 16th, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 17th, from the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of the Assumption, 29 Adams Street South, Manchester.
