Obituary of George A. Malin

George A. Malin of Manchester passed away peacefully on May 3rd at The Goodwin Street Group Home in East Hartford at age 75. He was the son of George J. and Alice (Riskus) Malin, and the brother of Sandra Thomson, all deceased. He is survived by his nieces Allison Thomson-Vicuna of East Granby, Serena Thomson of Catonsville, Maryland and a brother-in-law George Thomson of Churchville, Maryland. George suffered a severe head trauma in early infancy that defined the rest of his life. In spite of that, he enjoyed the racetrack, hunting with his father, collecting baseball cards, following the New York Yankees and, above all, a devotion to UConn Women's basketball. His later years were blessed with many friends at his group homes. His most treasured memories were of outings and activities with them. In lieu of flowers donations are requested for the Manchester Association of Retarded Citizens (MARC), 151 Sheldon Road Manchester, CT 06042. Funeral service will be held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St, Manchester on Friday, May 6th, at 1:00 p.m. with calling hours held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Burial Rites will be private.
