Obituary of James J. Toner

James John Toner, 92, of Needham, MA formerly of Bolton, CT, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2016. He was born on March 29, 1924 in Somerville, MA, the son of the late James John Toner and Mary Hayden Toner. He was predeceased by his wife Imogene Warren Toner to whom he was married for 60 years. He was also predeceased by his son James Toner, his sister Joanne Farrar and his brother Reverend Father Donald Toner. He is survived by his children Martha Toner of MA, Paula Waterman and her husband Richard of Hanover, CT, Elaine Sullivan and her husband Gerard of Sharon, MA, daughter in law Debbie Toner of Coventry, CT, Joanne Michalak of Alpharetta, GA, Kathy Kauffman and her husband William of Bolton, CT, Mark Toner of Houston, TX, Anne Toner and her partner Larry Bertrand of Willimantic, CT, and Roberta Perleoni and her husband Lou of East Hampton, CT. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, his sisters Paula Lee and Nancy Vossmer of Arlington, MA, his brothers Richard Toner of Colorado Springs, CO and Charles Toner of Hull, MA. He served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He graduated from Boston College class of 1949 and received his Master's Degree from the University of Connecticut. He was employed by Firemen's Fund Insurance Company for 35 years retiring as the Operations Manager. He lived in Manchester prior to relocating to Bolton where he lived most of his life. He loved spending time with his family and had such a joy for life. He made friends wherever he went. He was an avid fisherman and participated in fly fishing instruction for several years. He had a passion for wood carving and had donated many of them to the DEP. He was a volunteer for the State of CT Fisheries for over 20 years, teaching young fishermen. He also served on the Bolton Land Trust for many years. His infectious smile and love of storytelling will be greatly missed by all. Services and burial will be private. The John F.
