Susan E. (Mayer) Mathiau, 70, of Manchester passed away Saturday (Feb. 20, 2016) at Manchester Manor after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Manchester the daughter of the late Charles J. and Grace (Conner) Mayer. For many years she was a Buyer for the Ames Department Stores. Susan was a great lover of animals, she loved gardening and was very adamant about the earths ecology. She also loved her Breakfast Club at Panera's and her Birthday Club with her High School Friends. She is survived by sister and brother in law, Jane and Bill Puglise of Manchester, other family members Karen and Robert Snyder of Manchester, Frank and Patricia Kirchhof and Susan and Mary Jane Kirchhof all of Broad Brook, dear friends Jim, Anne Marie and AJ, several other close friends and her beloved cat Cotton. Funeral service will be Friday (Feb. 26, 2016) at 9:15am from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. James Church, Manchester. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manchester.
