Obituary of Philip S. Gale
Philip S. Gale, 90, died on February 20, 2016 at Fox Hill Nursing Home in Rockville, CT. Born in Petersham, MA on May 16, 1925, he made his home in CT for more than 60 years. Phil worked in the dairy industry for many years, both as a herdsman and as a cattle dealer. He started raising prize Guernsey cattle as a teenager and his passion for cattle was lifelong. For many years he enjoyed attending services at the Presbyterian Church of Coventry. He leaves his wife of almost 65 years Dorothy (Jenkins) Gale of Coventry, CT; his daughter and son-in-law, Martha & Armand Chenelle of Hebron, CT; his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca & Curtis Grimes of Manchester, NH; his grandchildren Leah, Elizabeth & Rebekah Chenelle of Hebron, CT; Ruth (Grimes) Boulter and her husband Zach of Exeter, NH; Nathaniel Grimes and his wife Kiana of Chicago, Illinois; and Seth & Japheth Grimes of Manchester, NH. He also leaves his great granddaughter Juliana Boulter of Exeter, NH., and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son, Philip Gale in 1970; his parents, George and Edith (Osgood) Gale, one brother and two sisters. Funeral service will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 26, 2016, at the Presbyterian Church of Coventry, 55 Trowbridge Rd, Coventry, CT 06238. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, Coventry. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
