Obituary of Salvatore P. Lombardo
Salvatore P. Lombardo, 92, of Manchester, husband of the late Marguerite Lombardo, died Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Brookdale in Rocky Hill. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Paul and Lucia Lombardo. Salvatore was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy. He worked as a carpenter at CCSU until his retirement in 1988. Sal was an avid fisherman, golfer and skeet shooter. He is survived by his grandchildren; John Lahda and his wife Anna of Rocky Hill, Blake O'Reilly of Manchester, Patrick O'Reilly and his wife Kimberly of Amsterdam, Maureen Elgi O'Reilly of Switzerland, and Charles Lahda of Manchester; 4 great-grandchildren, especially a special great-grandson whom he adored, John-Vincent Lahda; his son-in-law John Lahda of Manchester; his brother-in-law Ralph Donofrio and his wife Marie of East Hartford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Sal was predeceased by his step- children, Charles O'Reilly and Margaret Lahda; his brother Paul Lombardo and sisters Anna Gallo, Pauline Marchetto, Margaret Battalino and Josephine Saggio. The family of Sal would like to offer a special thanks to Brookdale Assisted Living in Rocky Hill. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 13th at 10:30 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester. Family and friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Manchester.
