Elizabeth "Libby" (Whitten) McPherson, 97, beloved wife of the late Leland McPherson, passed away at Crestfield Manor in Manchester Connecticut on January 29, 2016. Libby was born December 23, 1918 in Westfield, ME, the first born to Harold and Alberta (Belyea) Whitten. Libby married her high school sweetheart Leland McPherson in 1943 and settled in Manchester in 1950 where she worked and was a homemaker. She is survived by her siblings Constance Dauphine and Grace Manogaun of Westbrook Maine, and her children Lynn McPherson of Manchester, Cynthia McPherson of Manchester, Carolyn Asmuth (James) of Hebron, Daniel McPherson (Diane) of Manchester, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Besides her husband Leland G. McPherson, Libby was predeceased by her daughter Patricia A. McPherson. The family wishes to thank Crestfield Manor for all their help, support and kindness. Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 8th, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday. Burial will be private.
