Obituary of Aldo P. Mazzadra

Aldo Peter Mazzadra, Sr, 95, passed into the arms of the Lord on January 28, 2016 at home. Born the son of the late Peter and Theresa (Ottonelli) Mazzadra in East Hartford where he lived his entire life. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife for 64 years, Anita Antonia (Damaschi) Mazzadra. He was a US Army Air Corps, WW II veteran, serving in the 462 Bombardment Group, supporting air offensive Japan/Ryukyu Islands. He received two Bronze Service Stars, a Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater, WW II Victory and American Theater Ribbons. Aldo worked for F.T. Ley Construction as a Project Supervisor /Foreman and retired after 35 years of service. His construction projects included some of the largest Utility/Telecommunication infrastructure work in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. He also retired from the East Hartford Board of Education having worked in the School Maintenance Department. He was a member of St. Mary Church, East Hartford, the VFW Post 2083 and a lifetime member of the Elks. When not enjoying the winters in Boynton Beach, FL Aldo enjoyed relaxing with a glass of wine listening to music especially Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Italian music while playing with Lucky. He enjoyed watching the NY Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, NY Yankees and all UConn sports as well as old cowboy movies. Most of all Aldo loved with a passion, spending time with his family and watching his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren play sports or participate in their school activities. He is survived his son, David and daughter in law Patricia Mazzadra of Marietta, GA, daughter, Cynthia and son in law Robert Rosa, Sr. of East Hartford with whom Aldo had resided with, son, Peter Mazzadra of East Harford and son, Aldo, Jr. and daughter in law Joyce Mazzadra of Tolland, a brother in law Robert and Mary Damaschi of East Hartford, 10 grandchildren, Kathleen Mazzadra, Patricia Mazzadra Finch, Deborah Mazzadra, Robert Rosa, Jr., Lisa Rosa Sullivan, Christopher Rosa, Adam Mazzadra, Sarah Mazzadra, Matthew Mazzadra and Tyler Mazzadra. 15 great grandchildren, Natalie, Justin, Robert, Dominick, Julia, Louis, Dimitri, Christopher, Nicholas, Grant, Emily, Sarah, Michael, Brendt and his newest addition Aaden. Aldo is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by brothers, Anthony Mazzadra, Louis Mazzadra, Frank Mazzadra, sister, Angeline Baker LaPlante, brother in law George and his wife, Gene Damaschi and brother in law Leonard Damaschi. The family wishes to thank all of Aldo's personal caregivers including Monica, Vincent and Lil as well as the entire staff at Hartford HealthCare at Home for their compassion and support. Funeral service will be Monday (Feb 1, 2016) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in St. Mary Church East Hartford. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
