Obituary of Nancy Kautz Bailey

On January 13, 2016 Nancy Kautz Bailey, while in the presence of several of her children, peacefully passed away in her S. Windsor, CT residence; she was 87 years young. A native of Buffalo, NY, Nancy was the daughter of Floyd and Ethel Miller Collins, wife of the late John Kautz, Sr. and Eugene Bailey, Sr. and mother/Nancy to Barbara Kautz and Dick Sederstrom, Agawam, MA, John and Judy Kautz, Alexandria, VA, Jody and Gary Waldron, Lebanon, CT, MaryBeth and Ed Dziubinski, S. Windsor, CT, Michele Hollick, Hollis, NH, Gene and Lucille Bailey, Norfolk, MA, Dan and Eileen Bailey, Bellingham, MA, and David and Karen Bailey, Groton, MA. She was predeceased by three Bailey children: Mark Bailey, Patricia Atmore, and Barbara Jane Bailey and her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Robert and his wife, Jane Collins. She is also survived by 18 Kautz-Bailey grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren all of whom she loved dearly. Whether living in Buffalo, NY, Manchester, Columbia, or S. Windsor, CT, Nancy was involved with many church, hospital and community organizations. She served as a commissioned Lay Minister, was a Marriage Encounter presenter, and a volunteer with Vernon Visiting Nurse and Hospice, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Salvation Army, East Catholic High School, Manchester Memorial Hospital, Midget Football Auxiliary, and the S. Windsor Public Library. In addition to volunteering, Nancy was a longtime league bowler and UCONN basketball enthusiast, and avid bridge player. She also worked at East Catholic High School for several years. Calling hours will be at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, CT on Sunday, January 17th from 1:00-4:00p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., S. Windsor, CT on Monday, January 18th at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Nancy's family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale at S. Windsor for their kindness and supportive care as well as The HomeAides for providing exceptional aides. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Dana Farber Marathon Challenge at rundfmc.org. Nancy's granddaughter, Allison Bailey Olson will be running the 2016 Boston Marathon in memory of many family members who have passed on.
