Jean L. Delano, 82, beloved wife of Lewis E. Delano of East Hartford, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Fox Hill Nursing Home in Vernon. Born in Paterson, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Gustav and Erna (Haertel) Geithner. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Robert Geithner formerly of East Hartford. Jean was a friend of Bill W. for 32 years. Most of all, her family was her greatest love. Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Beverly O'Brien and her fiancé Tye Calderwood of Newington, Susan Dawe of Clearwater FL, Lori Ayotte of Lewiston ME, and Julie LaFountain-Demers and her husband Everett of Coventry, step-children Judy Turcotte and her husband Henry of Naples, ME, Elaine McDougal and her fiancé Jose Colon of East Hartford, Daniel Delano and his wife Annabelle of VA, David Delano and his wife Teresa of SC, and Laurene Delano of SC. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, all of whom always held a special place in her heart. Jean will be remembered for her love of sweets, her humor and sarcasm, and 2 of her "Jean-isms"- "just a thought" and "let's play it by ear." Friends and family will gather at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester, on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015 from 11-2pm, with a celebration of Jean's life beginning at 1pm.
