Obituary of Marsha A. Gunther

Marsha A. Gunther, 75, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, November 11, 2015, after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Manchester, she was the daughter of the late Adelbert J. and Madlyn (Hardell) Gunther. A passionate educator, community advocate, traveler, animal lover, and gardener, Marsha was tireless when helping others. Having received her Bachelor's from UVM, and her Master's from Uconn, she spent her entire career as an English teacher at Bennet Middle School, where ultimately she became the Principal. Marsha was actively involved with the Manchester Historical Society, the Rotary Club, where she served as President, and was on the Board of the New England Federal Family Credit Union, to name but a few. Wherever there was a need, Marsha would always do whatever she could to help—hers was a true and giving heart. She is remembered and loved by her sister Diane Castagna of Manchester, her niece and nephew-in-law, Aprile(Castagna) and Gian Paolo Cappuzzo of Virginia, her nephew Christopher Castagna and his partner Sonya Gulliksen of Hebron, and many loving relatives and friends, including Scott and Maria Ardel of West Hartford, Craig and Lourdes Ardel of Coventry, and Melanie Stewart of Manchester. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 15th. The funeral service will be private.
