William E. (Billy) Donlon, 90, of Vernon and formerly a East Hartford resident of forty years died on Thursday (November 5, 2015) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Lucy (Bojrowski) Donlon and the son of the late Joseph and Loretta Donlon. Bill had worked at the Institute of Living for over thirty years and also had worked for Dunbar and Armor Car Service and Lipman Motors for over five years. He was discharged from the Merchant Marines after World War II. Bill was a member of the NCRCC radio control plane club and was a CB radio and a Ham radio person who made friends with people from all over the world. Bill was a person who always smiled and had many friends, including those in the NCRCC and CB with whom he had coffee every Tuesday until his illness. Bill and Lucy used to travel to Myrtle Beach two to four times a year enjoying the beach, the ocean and the waves. He was also a great animal lover, especially his birds and two dogs, Dusty 1 and Dusty 2. Along with his constant smile Bill never complained about anything and always remained calm. A loving father, grandfather and great grandfather he is survived by his children Donna Tierinni and her husband Peter of Vernon, Robert Donlon of West Haven , Michael Donlon of Branford and Patricia Guzman-Smith of Vernon; his grandchildren and great grandchildren and his brother David Armentano and his wife Angel. Besides his wife and parents he was predeceased by his son William (Joey) Donlon. Bill would also like to thank his daughter Donna Tierinni and his son-in-law Peter, Patricia Guzman Smith and Robert Donlon for taking care of him at his time of need. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday (November 14th) 10:00 a.m. at St. James Church 896 Main St. Manchester followed by burial in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
