Obituary of Eileen P. Stevens
Eileen P. Stevens, 96, of Glastonbury, formerly of Manchester, the wife of the late John W. Stevens died Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Glastonbury Health Care Center. Born in Fall River, MA, January 1, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Catherine (McCaffrey) Dwyer, attended Fall River schools, graduating from Durfee High School class of 1937. After getting married Eileen lived in Manchester for 33 years, working at the Savings Bank of Manchester for many years. She was a communicant of the Church of the Assumption and a member of their Daughters of Isabella. Eileen and Jack retired to Barefoot Bay, FL for 32 years. After his death, in 2009 Eileen returned to Manchester. While in Florida, Eileen picked up the game of golf at 62 years old, became secretary of the Women's Club and was a two time member of the hole-in-one club. She also volunteered at Sebastian Medical Center in Sebastian, FL. She is survived by her son Jay Stevens and his wife Donna of Ashaway, RI, Richard Stevens and his wife Lorraine of Stonington, CT, and Beth Jarm and her husband Robert of East Hampton; her grandchildren Kevin and wife Michele, Sage and fiancé Tim, Jessica, James and wife Amy, Graham and wife Camille, David, Maggie and husband Victor, and Kathleen; and six great-grandchildren, including Isabel, Madelyn and Owen, who were the light of her life. Besides her husband she was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers. Eileen's family would like to offer a special note of thanks to the staff at Glastonbury Healthcare Center for their care, especially Laura, Ben and Janet. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 29th, at 10:30 a.m. from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption 27 Adams St. South, Manchester followed by burial in East Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30.
