Obituary of Marion D. Oliva

Marion D. (Hall) Oliva, 85, of Portage, MI, formerly of East Hartford, the wife of the late Allie D. Oliva died Thursday, October 22, 2015. Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Bertha (Peacock) Hall. Marion received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature from Brown University in 1951. She then worked in the Research Department Library at Pratt & Whitney. After she and Allie were married in 1959, they settled in East Hartford where they raised their family. Marion was a member of the South Congregational Church in East Hartford for many years. She was active as a Bluebird and Campfire Girl Leader and also active as a volunteer in the school and church community. Marion had a love of watching birds on her many birdfeeders. For 40 years, she greatly enjoyed summers spent at the cottage in Quonnie, RI. Marion was a very kind and caring woman, who brought the best out of everyone around her. Marion is survived by her children Brian Oliva and his wife Laurie of Willow Spring, NC, Karen Six and her husband Robert of Schoolcraft, MI, her granddaughter Kristen of NC and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother Wesley A. Hall. Funeral services will be private. The John F. Tierney Funeral Home, Manchester, CT has care of arrangements.
