Gerard "Gerry" Mogielnicki, 69, of East Hartford, died October 10, 2015 at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Hartford, the son of Alexander and Lydia (Bilodeau) Mogielnicki. Gerry graduated from the Oak Hill School for the Blind. He served as a counselor for CW Industries, "Leo's" until his retirement in 2003. He also operated a coffee shop in Hartford for 9 years. Gerry was a proud member of the Lion's Club for 32 years and served as President of the East Hartford Lion's Club in 2002, receiving a 100% Achievement Award. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow, a Progressive Ambassador of Sight recipient and his proudest moment was when he received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Lion's Club International President. Gerry was also a 12 year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, East Hartford. Gerry is survived by his daughters Karen and her husband Jeffrey Young of Largo, FL and Kimberly Pearce of Clearwater, FL and his granddaughters Allison Carrigan and Carina Carrigan. He is also survived by his close friend of 41 years George Precourt and his wife Alma of Manchester, Mark Hand of Coventry, and Jacqueline Mickiewiez of Marlborough. Gerry's family and friends would like to thank George and Alma Precourt and the staff at Green Springs Rehabilitation in East Hartford who were so kind and helpful. Funeral services will be held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester on Friday, October 16th at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Lions Service will be held at 7:00 pm.
