Obituary of Iver Anderson

Iver "Andy" G. Anderson 91, of South Windsor met his maker on good Friday April 6th, and will celebrate his first Easter in heaven. Iver went peacefully at Woodlake of Tolland surrounded by loved ones. Iver left a lasting impression on his family, friends and acquaintances. He enjoyed spending time with family as "Grandpa Extraordinaire" and as taxi driver he loved taking his grandchildren on vacations, to sporting events and to daily adventures. His years were filled with much love, caring, and kindness. He was always the first to lend a hand with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. Iver lived a long and happy life and was cherished by all who had the pleasure to know him. He was blessed to share 70 years of marriage with the love of his life and best friend Shirley. Iver was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the First Company Governor's Foot Guard for 50 years. He retired from Pratt and Whitney Aircraft after 35 years, as a Plant Manager in Rocky Hill, but he spent most of his career at the Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford as a General Foreman. Iver was the son of the late Iver and Margaret (Keating) Anderson and was predeceased by his sisters Helen Happ and Margaret Anderson. Born in Hartford and together with his wife Shirley raised their family in Manchester. He is survived by his wife Shirley A. (Gibson) Anderson and four children, Robert G. Anderson and his wife Laura of Coppell, TX, Patricia Gentilcore and her husband Jeff of Manchester, Doreen Caron and her husband Gary of Ellington, and James G. Anderson and his wife Carol of Hamilton, MA., 11 grandchildren Bridget Morgan, Christopher Anderson, Shaun Anderson, Donna Suitter, Mark Gentilcore, Todd Gentilcore, Michael Caron, Jonathan Caron, Gregory Caron, James Anderson Jr., and Casey Anderson. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
