Obituary of Theodore R. Cummings
Theodore R. "Ted" Cummings, 91, of Manchester, the husband of the late Lorraine "Lefty" (Blanchard) Cummings died Monday, September 21, 2015 at his home. Born in Manchester, he was the son of the late Burnett and Hattie Cummings and was a lifelong resident. He was a Manchester High School graduate of the Class of 1941. He received his bachelor's degree in economics from UCONN under the GI Bill. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, having served in the 1st Marine Division on Guadalcanal. In his professional life he was the owner and operator of Cummings Insurance Agency. Very active in local and state politics, Ted served on the Manchester Board of Directors from 1956-60, on the Manchester Board of Education from 1961-64 and as 12th District State Representative from 1974-78. He was also the Chairman of the Manchester Democratic town committee for 47 years. He is survived by a daughter Terry Bogli and her husband Lee Bogli of Manchester, a son Timothy Cummings and his wife Rachel of Shaar Hagolan Israel, and a son Ted T. Cummings and his wife Blair Cummings of Aiken, SC; his grandchildren Jered Bogli, Justin Bogli and his wife EveAnn, David Cummings and his wife Shirly, and Gideon Cummings, Lauren and Sam Cummings, Marc Gotler and his wife Brett, and three great-grandchildren Madison Eve Gotler, Natalie Mae Gotler, and Eden Willow Bogli, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Barney and Edwin Cummings and his sisters Lola Cummings and Arlene McCaw. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester on Friday (September 25th) from 4-8 p.m. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday (September 26th) at 10:30 a.m. at East Cemetery, Manchester.
