Helen C. Fratus, 88, of Manchester, CT died on August 17, 2015. Helen was born in Plymouth, Mass. where she met and married her beloved "Micky" of 51 years. Born September 28, 1926 the daughter of Nancy and Emmanuel Carriera, her parents immigrated to America from Portugal in the early 1920s. Plymouth, Mass. afforded those who would reside there a rich Portuguese culture. Helen was very proud of her rich heritage. Those who knew her intimately would sit in her presence listening to a very interesting story spoken in English only to hear the final details in Portuguese. Helen is survived by her three children, Dominic Fratus, Jr., Michele Finley and Renee Williams. Helen, also affectionately known as "VoVo," is survived by her 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service on September 19, 2015 at 11:00 held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester, CT. A second memorial service will be held on November 28, 2015 in Plymouth, Mass. Family who would like further details regarding the November 28th memorial service should contact Michele Finley. Helen has a grandson who is an ordained minister, Joshua Finley, who will preside over all the services held. The family would like to thank Manchester Manor for the wonderful loving care of Helen and "Micky" for the many years they happily resided there. Many of those in the nursing, rehab, recreation, laundry, kitchen and housekeeping departments were like family, expressing care and love. The family would also like to thank Masonic Care of East Hartford for the wonderful hospice care that was given to Helen.
