Obituary of Donald H. Daley

Donald H. Daley, 72, of South Windsor, loving husband of 46 years to Toby Daley, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, with his family and friends by his side. Born in Hartford on April 26, 1943, he grew up in East Hartford, and had been a resident of South Windsor since 1972. He worked for 30 years at the Hartford Insurance Group and retired as an executive in 1999. He served six years in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1967. After retirement, he dedicated himself to studying American history and enjoyed traveling to presidential homes, libraries and landmarks. Most of all, he devoted himself to his grandson, Wyatt, who called him Papa Don. Along with his beloved wife, Toby, Donald is survived by his adoring son, David Daley and his wife, Jennifer, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a cherished grandson, Wyatt, who added so much joy to his life. He also leaves a son, James Daley. In addition, he leaves three brothers- and sisters-in-law, Benson and Catherine Treadow, of Manchester; and Stephen Treadow, of Waterford; several nieces and nephews, Julie and Matt Brennan, of Glastonbury; Michael and Anne Treadow, of New York City; Stephen and Kate Treadow, of Uncasville; Robin and David Ullian, of Florida; and Larry Salovin, of Florida; as well as many dear friends. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Aug. 21, from 10 a.m. until noon at Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester. Burial will follow at Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor.
