Robert Gene Schack, 80, of Stafford Springs, beloved husband of the late Setsuko Aiko Schack, passed away Tuesday (July 14, 2015) surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. Robert was born in Manchester, CT on July 15, 1934. He graduated from Manchester High School class of 1952. Robert served in the United States Air force from 1955-1958. He worked at UConn Health Center for 27 years retiring in 1997. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and the UConn Women's Basketball team. Robert was a loving father and grandpa, always finding time for his family and putting others before himself. He will be greatly missed by all. He was predeceased by his brother William A. Schack. He is survived by his brother Ronald O. Schack and his wife Irene & sister-in-law Janice Schack; his five children, Naomi Schack, Heidi Sinsigalli and her husband Sal, Natalie Yasumine, Susan Schack and her fiancé Richard Robie, and Andrew Schack; three grandchildren, Danielle Sinsigalli, Steven Sinsigalli and Jessie Robie and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the ICU unit at Saint Francis Hospital for the care and compassion during this difficult time. A memorial service for Robert will be held on Saturday, July 18th, at 11:00 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St. Manchester, CT. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will follow at East Cemetery, 220 East Center St. Manchester, CT.
