Jeannette (Frenette) "Jan" Parr-Tierney, 89, of East Hartford, the wife of the late Joseph R. Parr and James P. Tierney died Thursday (June 25, 2015) at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Bristol, the daughter of Clifford and Emma Frenette, she had been a long time resident of East Hartford. Jan retired in 1987 after 32 years of service at the United Technologies Research Center. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Retirees Club. She is survived by her children and their spouses Corinne and Douglas Mattson, Sharon and Thomas O'Connell, and Robert and Lynne Parr; her grandchildren Kathryn O'Connell, Joseph O'Connell, Christine Mattson and her partner Derek Bell, Jacquelyn Blunt and her husband Derek, Dylan Parr and Michael Parr; her great-granddaughters, Cameron and Avery Bell; many nieces and nephews, a special nephew Donald Dionne, and close friends Nick Bujeaud and Ceil Fagan. She was also predeceased by her sister Lorraine Dionne and her brothers Nestor Frenette and Leo Frenette and his wife Georgette. Calling hours will be held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at Our Lady of Peace Church for a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated on Monday (June 29th) at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetery Glastonbury.
