Obituary of Robert Johnson

Captain Robert A. Johnson, USN, Retired, of Glastonbury died June 10, 2015 with his family by his side. Predeceased last year by his beloved wife Pat, Bob leaves his daughters Cindi, Cheri, Sandi and Chris and their respective husbands Greg Gajewski, Andy Rainey and Troy Hersom. Chris Neagle's husband, Jim, passed away in December of 2013. Bob also leaves 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Born July 20, 1931 in New Haven, CT, Bob was the son of George A. Johnson and Ruth Manwaring Johnson. He attended New Haven State Teacher's College and briefly worked as an art teacher in Glastonbury before pursuing a career as a custom builder/contractor. In his mid years, Bob coached the Glastonbury H.S. boys hockey team. Later in life he sang barbershop with The Silk City Chorus and also performed in Trinity Covenant Church's acclaimed annual Christmas concert, "Great Joy." Bob and Pat shared a love for Maine, where they had a second home on Arrowsic Island. He joins 3 brothers Fred, Don, and Ted in Heaven and they are most likely singing some tune in 4-part harmony as they so loved to do. A Celebration of Bob's life will be held Friday, June 19th at his home in Glastonbury at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Wounded Warriors Project.
