Obituary of Marcel Jutras
Marcel Rosaire Jutras, 91, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2015. He was the son of Edmond and Anna (Schmidt) Jutras and the beloved husband of Carmen (Ouellette) Jutras for 67 years. He was born in Lewiston, Maine in 1924, one of 12 children.
Marcel leaves behind his four children and their families, Diane Cormier Bouchard, Catherine McCann, James Jutras and Glenn Jutras. Besides their wonderful spouses he leaves 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Delores.
Marcel served in the European Campaign in WWII. He was awarded a Bronze Star for his heroism and 2 Purple Hearts. He was proudly part of Company C 692 Tank Destroyer Battalion.
Upon honorable discharge from the Army, he built his own barber shop in Lewiston, ME. The experience left him with the realization that he preferred cutting wood to cutting hair. He and Carmen then moved to Manchester, CT where he built up his carpentry business. Among projects Marcel freely gave of his time and carpentry skills to the organizations he was passionate about, St. James Church, St. Bridget Church and the VFW.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and aides at West Side Care for their support, kindness and care over the last 14 years.
Calling hours will be Thursday morning (6/11) from 9:30-10:30 at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St. Manchester followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 at St. James Church, 896 Main St. Manchester.
