Obituary of Francis Sumislaski

Francis S. "Frank" Sumislaski, Sr., 81, of Manchester, the husband of Mary (Liro) Sumislaski died Tuesday (March 27, 2012) at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Manchester, he was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and had lived in Manchester most of his life. Frank enjoyed being a Polka DJ at UCONN's WHUS for many years and was an avid UCONN Basketball fan, fisherman and hunter. Besides his wife he is survived by his children Lewis Sumislaski and his wife Kathleen of Bolton, Debbie Dascanio and her husband Allan of Manchester, Janet Kravontka and her husband Kevin of Manchester, Janice Salamone and her husband Ernest of East Windsor, Sandy Fazio and her husband Gino of Bolton, Donald Sumislaski and his wife Meeghan of East Hartford, Francis Sumislaski, Jr. and his wife Lee of Ellington, and Patty Sumislaski of Broadbrook; his grandchildren Amy Devanney and her husband John, Jeffrey, Amanda and Mary Sumislaski, Michael, Andrew and Kara Kravontka, Matthew and Lisa Fazio, Collin and Maura Sumislaski and Nathan and Josh Sumislaski; and his great-granddaughter Abigail Devanney. He is also survived by his sisters Caroline D'Onofrio and Adella Carmeilla. He was predeceased by his sisters Cecelia Ott, Sophie Zatkowski, and Marian Zajac, and his brothers Bruno, Stanley and John Sumislaski. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester on Thursday from 4-7 pm. Funeral service is private and at the convenience of the family.
