Obituary of Paul Charles Templeton

Paul Charles Templeton of South Windsor, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, May 4, 2015. Paul is the beloved husband of Rosaleen Quirk Templeton for over 60 years. Born October 31, 1914 and was raised in Hartford, CT. Paul is the son of Margaret McKiernan and Charles Fox Templeton. He is the father of Mary Ann (Kevin) Murray, Eileen, Paul and Rosaleen Templeton, grandfather to Daniel (Audra) Murray, Christopher (Krystle) Murray and Kathryn (Mark) Waters, and predeceased by his brother William Galligan and sister Dorothy Foley. During World War II, Paul enlisted and proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the destroyer the U.S.S. Parker seeing action in the Mediterranean and Anzio Italy; receiving three battle stars. Returning home he graduated from the University of Hartford, Summa cum Laude, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He also completed the Hartford Graduate Center's Management Development Program. Paul's career spanned over 36 years with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft retiring from his position as Manager, Disbursements-Financial. Paul also served over eighteen years on the Board of Directors of the East Hartford Aircraft Federal Credit Union (currently American Eagle Financial Credit Union) and was appointed General Manager from 1979-1981. He was also a Director of the Connecticut Credit Union League and the Hartford Columbus Federal Credit Union. Paul was a lifelong, active parishioner of St. Bridget Church and was among the first group of the laity to be commissioned as Eucharistic Ministers. Paul volunteered tirelessly in various capacities at St. Bridget Church and School. He is a lifetime member of the Hartford Council 11 Knights of Columbus and a 4th degree member of the Bishop McMann Council. Paul was the first Grand Knight of the Santa Maria Council in North Palm Beach, Florida. Paul enjoyed many things and he experienced wonderful times in his 100 years of life. He loved to travel, play cards, sit in the sun, pray and dance with his wife but most of all he loved his family to whom he dedicated his life. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 7th at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester at 12:00. Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester on TODAY, May 6th, from 4:00-7:00. Burial with full military honors will be held privately at a later date.
