Obituary of Anne Miller

Anne L. Miller, 78, of Manchester, the beloved wife of Walter P. Miller, went to her eternal rest on Monday March 23, 2015. A lifelong resident, she was born in Manchester in 1936, the daughter of Adolph and Anna Baresia. In 1969 Anne's real estate career began and in 1986, she became the Owner/Broker of Anne Miller Real Estate. Throughout her career she earned several professional designations. Active in civic and work related fields, her memberships included; Manchester & Tri-Country Board of Realtors (Past-President), Hartford Board of Realtors, National Association of Realtors, Women's Council of Realtors, Manchester Chamber of Commerce (Past-Director), East Hartford Chamber of Commerce, FIABCI-USA-World Real Estate Association, International Real Estate Member, Hartford Board of Realtors- Commercial Investment Division, Hartford Area Economists, ASTD Associate Training and Development, Friendship Force of Connecticut, and HABE- Economist Group. In addition, Anne also held a position on numerous committees; State of Director Connecticut Association of Realtors, State of Representative Professional Standards for National Association of Realtors, Chairman of the Grievance Committee for Connecticut Association of Realtors, Town Planning Committee for Disposition of Property, Director of the Police Auxiliary League (Children's Advocacy Group), Professional Standards Committee- Tri-County Board of Realtors, Hartford Board of Realtors and Connecticut Association of Realtors, International Committee Director, State Professional Standards Chair, Connecticut State Education Chair, Education Committee Chair, CRS Council Chair, President of the Charter Oak Chapter of Women's Council of Realtors, Technology and Communication Committee and Agency Task Force. In 1989, and 1999, Anne was named Realtor of the Year by the Tri-County Board of Realtors. She also received the Local Volunteer Award in 1985 and the Manchester Chamber of Business and Community Service award in 2006. Anne was very active in supporting her community, especially with her work with MARC Inc. Active both on stage and behind the scenes, Anne was the co-founder of the Little Theatre of Manchester and was presented their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. She was also credited with giving the theatre its name. She also supported countless other charities by donating gift baskets for any of their fundraisers. Besides her husband Walter, Anne is survived by her children, Martin P. Miller and his wife Joan of West Gardiner, ME and Clare Miller-Burti and her husband Vincent Burti of Manchester, her grandchildren Anthony and Gianna; her sister-in-law Rose Baresia of Rockville, her sister-in-law Margie Bellingham and her husband Phil of East Hartford and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Chester and Walter Baresia. A funeral service will be held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday (March 28th). Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday (March 27th) from 4-8.
