To the Family of Attorney John R. FitzGerald,
I am truly saddened to learn of the death of Attorney John R. FitzGerald. I was honored to have him as my torts professor in the fall of 1960 and spring of 1961. Because he was also a practicing attorney, he was able to make the course come alive by referencing actual cases which he had handled.
Over the years, I had numerous occasions to interact with Attorney FitzGerald, particularly at the Hartford County Bar level where we both served as President.
I have always maintained a certain image of what I believe a lawyer should be and he was one of the few people who fit my image to a tee. I found him to be intelligent, witty, classy, dignified and always presented as a quintessential member of the Bar.
The list of his accomplishments as set forth in the obituary is beyond impressive. He did everything that a prominent and respected lawyer should do. He will be remembered as a titan of the Bar representing the finest qualities of what being a lawyer is all about. He truly will be missed.
Most sincerely,
Gary A. Friedle, Esq.
