Ernest (Jake) R. Jacobsen, 74, of South Windsor, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 22, 2015. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 31 years, Su Bok Jacobsen. Jake was born in Hartford, CT on October 24, 1940 to Ernest and Anna Jacobsen. He was employed by the City of Hartford, Public Works Department, until October 1992, when, after 33 years of service, he retired as Superintendent of Streets. In his early years with the City, he earned the nickname "Jake the Rake". He loved traveling, especially to the Phillipines. He also had a very special place in his heart for animals. After his retirement, he enjoyed helping out at his sons' liquor stores. He also enjoyed working with his hands through woodworking and helping his wife with their many gardens. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind; his daughter, Robin Landrie and her husband Larry of North Carolina; his sons, Bob and his wife Sue of Manchester, Danny (Danbones) and his wife Vina of Vernon, Joey and his wife Susan of Manchester, and Jimmy and his wife Marlene of East Hartford; his grandchildren, Jason Knowles, Danielle Landrie, Andrea and Rachael Jacobsen, Sara and Kristina Jacobsen, and Gabriella Jacobsen; his great-grandchildren, Kristopher, Bentley, and Hayli; his sisters, Beverly Fregeau and Joyce Pinto; his brother, Daniel Trembley; and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first Grandchild, Christopher Knowles in 2002. Jake was deeply moved by the compassion and dedication of each and every healthcare worker that assisted him throughout his illness.
