Obituary of Frances G. Ardini

Frances Geary Ardini, 88, of Manchester and Harwichport, Cape Cod, beloved wife of the late Robert J. Ardini, Sr. for 58 years, died peacefully at home on December 28, 2014. Frances was born in Hartford, daughter of the late Frank and Katherine Morris Geary of East Hartford and had been a resident of Manchester since 1951. She was a graduate of the first Nursing Class at St. Joseph College, Class of 1947, receiving a BS in Nursing with her training at St. Francis Hospital. After graduation, Frances practiced nursing at St. Francis Hospital and the Hartford VNA. Frances moved to Manchester with Robert in 1951 to raise their family. She continued her Nursing career working at Manchester Memorial Hospital as a Charge Nurse. Retired in 1980, Frances worked 17 years for the Manchester Public Schools as a School Nurse at Manchester High School. Frances was a devoted founding member and active parishioner of St. Bartholomew Church. She served as an original member of the Church's Altar Committee in its early years and was an active member of Manchester's Catholic Mother's Circle. Frances was one of the few in Manchester known for her "French Twist" hairstyle created weekly by the loving efforts of Carolyn and Mary. While Manchester was always her "home," she enjoyed 20 years of memorable retirement living shared with Robert, her family and many friends at their home at Cape Cod. Frances is survived by two sons, Robert (Bob) and Jack Ardini of Manchester, daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Bergan of Manchester and granddaughters, Katherine (Katie) and Maura Bergan. She is also predeceased by her son-in-law, Michael Bergan. Calling hours will be held Friday, January 2, 2015 from 4-7PM at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Church, 45 Ludlow Rd., Manchester. Attendees are requested to go directly to Church. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester.
