Obituary of Sophie Baluk

Sophie Baluk, 96, formerly of Windsor, the wife of the late Anthony "Tony" Baluk died Thursday, December 25, 2014, at her daughter's home in Manchester, where she had lived for the past 10 years. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Boyko.

Sophie attended East Hartford schools and had lived in Windsor since 1958. She retired from Stanadyne in Windsor after many years of service. She very much enjoyed her trips to the casino and was very close with her grandchildren throughout their lives.

She is survived by her son Tony Baluk of Coventry, her daughter Barbara Fink and her husband Gerry of Manchester; her granddaughter Alyson Fink of Kittery, Maine and a soon to be great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her grandson Michael Fink, her daughter-in-law Gloria Baluk, and her brothers Andrew and William Boyko.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 29, at 11:00 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center Street, Manchester followed by burial in St. John's Cemetery, Glastonbury. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, December 28 from 4-6 p.m. and Monday from 10-11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Sophie's grandson Michael, memorial contributions may be made to the Cape Cod National Seashore, 99 Marconi Site Road, Wellfleet, MA 02667.
