Obituary of Charles D. Griffin

Charles Dennis Griffin, 92, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014 peacefully in his sleep. He was the husband of Theresé (Pauline) Griffin who died in 2010, whom he always referred to as "The love of his life, and best thing that ever happened to him." Charlie was a WWII Navy veteran who served on the USS Cincinnati. An electrician by trade, he owned and operated C & R Appliance in Scranton, PA where he was born, raised and lived for many years. Charlie was a very gentle and quiet soul who enjoyed the simple things in life, fishing, gardening and being with family. He made his home at Westhill Gardens in Manchester where he took a lot of good natured ribbing from the ladies with a shy smile, and where he enjoyed the peaceful and happy atmosphere created by their managers, Karen and Donna. Besides his wife, Pauline he was predeceased by his brothers Gerald and Joseph, his sisters Margaret and Gerlinda, and a nephew, Alan. He is survived by his five stepchildren Gary and his wife Cindy, Denise, Maureen, Jacqueline, Kenneth and his wife Jackie, 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews (by blood and through marriage) and his only surviving sister Eleanor and her husband Carl. The John F. Tierney Funeral Home, Manchester has care of the arrangements. For online condolences please visit www.tierneyfuneralhome.com.
