Joseph L. Connors, 95, of Vernon, formerly of Manchester, the husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Donoghue) Connors died Sunday, November 2, 2014, at his home. Born in Unionville, CT he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Connors, and had lived in Manchester for many years. He was a 1937 graduate of Farmington High School, and a graduate from Becker Jr. College in Worcester, MA. A US Navy veteran, Joe flew PBY Amphibious Aircraft while in the Navy. During this time he married the love of his life in Pensacola, FL and returned to Connecticut to raise their family. He worked as a salesman at Manchester Lumber for many years and later purchased Leese Flooring Supplies, a company that his sons and grandson run today. He was a communicant and founding member of St. Bartholomew Parish, a 25 year member and past president of their Legion of Mary and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Later in life he became an avid golfer. He became passionate about the game and the opportunities that it gave him meeting and playing with new people at Manchester Country Club. He is survived by his children John F. Connors and his wife Vicki, Mark E. Connors and his wife Barbara, James R. Connors and his wife Joan, Elizabeth Connors, Mary Patat and her husband Leon, and Catherine Jones and her husband Michael, his grandchildren Sam, Richard, Peter, Daniel, Courtney, Seth, Sarah, Angela, Faye, Mary, Colleen and Connor. He is also survived by his sister Mary Connors and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his daughter Bernadette Connors and his siblings Jim Connors, Anne Connors, Tom Connors and Theresa Connors. The family would like to thank the staff at Welles Country Village and Joy Edwards for all their care and support over the past few years. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 10th at 10:00 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester, CT followed by burial with military honors in St. James Cemetery, Manchester.
