Joan Tylec Lawton, 67, of Manchester, died Tuesday (March 6, 2012) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in Middletown, formerly of Moodus, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Stella Tylec. She was employed at United Technologies Research Center in East Hartford for 34 years. She was an avid Boston Red Sox Baseball Team and UCONN Women's Basketball team fan. She enjoyed attending the theatre, playing the piano, knitting and traveling. She was a member of St. James Church in Manchester. She leaves behind her son, Matthew Christopher Lawton of Manchester and several cousins and many wonderful friends who were like family to her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday (March 12th) at 10 am at St. James Church 896 Main St. Manchester. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
